weekend pics from the swap , overdid it this pat weekend and still trying to get back to feeling right. I guess driving out to Pomona Street fair at 4:00 am Saturday and the then other direction Sunday to Ventura Swap at 3:30 am did not give me enough rest time. Will have to remember that next time but knowing me I will still do it again.

Wood sign about 25 inches in Diameter painted on 1 side and were used in the park to advertise the ticket specials. The one for sale is buried in the garage but it has the same graphics but the wear will be different. I will send pics of the sign for sale to any one interested.

Bought a bunch of used pencils last week at the junk swap so I scanned a few of the more interesting ones.

Looking thru my files and trying to organize them I figure I better start posting more just to get it out there for all to see. Here are some of the Toppie pics i have saved over the years, nothing I have just cool advertising things out there.

Looking at them all I kinda wish I had picked a few up over the years I think I just have a neat stuffed version up on the shelf these days.

Going thru some old files on my computer and came across an old want ad I did for the Advertising Figures I was searching for back in the year 2000. The search was getting easier as Ebay had been getting more popular and that meant more opportunity to score a rare piece. Looking back that was also the time some of the high dollar figures ( Like the large Speedy Alka Seltzer ) that were thought to have been quite rare started turing up more often and the prices crashed. These days I enjoy what figures I have but have not been going crazy adding new ones partly because the ones I want still have big price tags or they just do not turn up anymore. I took the ad I did over 10 years ago and took out the ones I have,had ( ended up selling for some reason) or passed on ( too expensive) and left the ones I have yet seen for sale at any price. There might be a few that I just wanted if they were cheap ( Like the 2 faced Ritalin monster, Mido Robot Clock, came close with a response off a blog post but as usual the deal never came thru) but have not come across yet at a fair price. Maybe this coming year I will take all the other pics I have saved over the years and make a new want list then see where I am in 10 more years.

Bought this unusual Big Boy solid plaster head off Ebay. Not sure what it is off of since it is a little bigger that the small hollow store display statue and much bigger than the lamp or nodder (both are also hollow). I know they made a chalk bank but it was also hollow. Any one seen a solid plaster statue before? My guess it might have been a miniature sales sample for the big ones ??

Found a used Disneyland plastic bag at the junk swap so I thought what a great few days of posts the artwork would make.

Looking at the all images you notice they started dropping in the disney characters here and there. I prefer the park stuff without them, not sure why but often I see a great souvenir but when they drop in a character it takes away from the rest of the piece for me. The other thing I noticed on the Haunted Mansion art the used the music played ghosts and not the hitchhiking ones you always see these days.
Just my 2 cents, drop by tomorrow for some more.

I used to buy all the great little paper things with the characters on them but it got to be the junk swap dealers were thinking they were gold so now I just take a pic and leave it. Sometimes I find it down the row the next week cheap since the loads seem to be resold and move from one dealer to the next on the food chain.

Another one of those do I need this physically in my possession or will a picture do? I did think it over as I could have bought about 7 packed lamps for 5 bucks and even took the time to put the ones I wanted in a box before asking the price. It was tough but I decided to just take a few pics. Today while uploading the pic to the post I wished I had got them a little bit. I guess that's what drug addicts go thru when they are trying to kick the habit. I hope they are gone by next Saturday or I might have a relapse.

Needed a little color on the bare white walls. Should be interesting to see if anyone comments on it at work seeing I work at a dental Laboratory.

Mall Space Update
Scored a Display case off Craigslist but had to drive 2 hours to San Diego to get it. I should have taken a picture of it strapped to the top on my van for the trip home last night. Kept thinking the cops were going to pull me over or at the immigration checkpoint about half way back. Worse part was i did not find out that the case was used at a medical marijuana shop until I got down there to pick it up. All the way to the checkpoint I was stressing about what happens if they pull me over for inspection and some drug dog gets a whiff of the glass shelves inside the van ? That would have been a great post if it had happened but lucky for me all went well and I made it back with the case.

Seen at the Rose Bowl this weekend, just taking pictures of interesting things to share while trying not to buy as much, even though it is hard sometimes. Going to be getting a space in a new mall opening up in Long Beach next month so I will have another outlet for my goods and hopefully take back some space in our overstuffed garage. I have a workbench in there somewhere I think?

Bought a interesting set of Pep Boys over the weekend.

They are all hand drawn in chalk and what looks like grease pencil. The cigar even has some red glitter. There is a date 1941 in ball point on the back of 1 plus a signature from the artist i am guessing.
They remind me of the art you often see framed in restaurants.

They did this shoot months ago for the annual American Heritage issue they put out each year around this time.
