Check out this little Red Devil JUMBO Magic Black Snakes box, I don't think they even make these guys anymore. The box is 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 and contained just 6 snakes. My guess is these were from 1951 from the dated State Fire Marshal seal on the back. The side on the box has this great information" Guaranteed not to contain mercury ( of course they are snakes not fish). The directions are better " Be sure pellet is ignited completely for perfect results" ( So it's up to you not to screw up the snakes) and the the last tid bit of info " Do Not Hold In Hand" (Unless you want 6 little black spots on your hand for life). They also left those black spots on the sidewalk til at least Labor Day!
ReplyDeleteI was just telling my husband that this was the only firework that I enjoyed lighting as a kid. I was and still am terrified of sparklers. Fire bad. Cool find!!
