Punks

Vintage slide of a carnival punk booth. Looks who's there the Marlboro man.

Out of this World Thanks!!!

Today I would like to send out a Big Tikiranch Thanks to Bertha.

She sent me these two new cards for my space themed greeting card collection. What a thoughtful thing to do so I wanted to say Thanks and share them with everyone today.

Clean and Simple

Vintage can (yes can) of Wisk laundry deturgent. No huge mega plastic bottles back then, all great washing products came in metal containers. Great graphics with just 4 bold colors. I wonder how many loads you could get out of a can like this? Thanks for dropping by everyone.

It's Magic

The Magic Chef store display figure used in stores to promote the appliances, His hand has a slot in it so he could hold advertisiments or maybe specials signs. The piece is about 28 inches tall and made of paper mache and plaster. The construction is very good which I realized when for some unkown reason ours took a header of the top off our fridge onto the floor. Not to worry he only suffered some cracks to the top of his hat thankfully.

Are you Reddy

Over the years I have kept quite a few Reddy Kilowatt illustrations. Most were from the electric bills they sent out but they were also in many magazines and promotional materials. Here are some scans of a few.

Western Wear

Here is a neat little advertising figure I found for a Western Wear Company in Denver. When I first found it I thought it was just one of those childrens craft project with the Walnut Head. The piece was some sort of promo for the Rockmount Ranch Wear Company. The whole body is made of small diecut pieces of thick leather. These must have takes quite a while to assemble with as many pieces as there are. Seeing a piece like this reminds me how companies went out of there way to promote themselves with interesting giveaways back then.

Have a super day ya all.............

The Painter
