Maid of Honor

So I sometimes buy weird things that I never thought I would like a Giant Rooster or a stack of vintage Frozen Turkey Giblet waxed containers. I sometimes stop at the local Goodwill on my way home from work but I usually do not find anything worth picking up. The other day I did find a interesting wood/steel ironing board complete with the cover still on it. I am sort of liking the old metal industrial objects lately and this board had that look. I fit in my beetle and later that night I decided to remove the cover which revealed today image post.

Just think that cover preserved the original advertising for you and the world to enjoy.I guess it has lasted a Lifetime so far, no where do I store it??????

The way to POP

Here is a interesting Pacific Ocean Park piece.

The dealer I bought it from told me when her family would drive to POP they would but this sign in the car window. I was telling some friends about the sign and they remember having one too. They must have given them out at the place.

If you are in the Glendale area this weekend there is a fun advertising and collectible show going on. Here is the info

Here is a shot of my booth from one of the past shows. I try not to bring too much but that never seems to happen.

Sunday Score 1/11/09

Rose Bowl swap meet today which started off with the van breaking down 1 block from home ( Lucky us) but pushing a fully loaded van a block at 3:30 am was work. After unpacking the van and repacked the truck with as much as we could fit we were off to the show. I usually like to get there as early as possible for more shopping time so I missed about an hour. Finally out there shopping by 5:30 in the dark I came across todays buy. A 40's style car and trailer set in almost new condition. The whole piece is about 12 inches long and it even has a litho interior panel inside with graphics so you see it when you look into either of the opening doors or windows. I guess I will be looking out for more trailers now since I have one.Hope everyone one had a great weekend and Thanks for dropping buy!

Decal Bob

Dropped by a local antique mall on the way home tonight and turned up this little beauty. You might wonder who is this wanna be Bobs? This is the early version (1940's) before he became the version we usually know him as.

Mr. LP

Since last month was all about the Holidays, here is one that was waiting to be posted.

My friend Scott is always finding these nail aprons and usually they are just writing or maybe they have a workman guy on them. Last month he pulls this one out and well it had to stay with me. The size is too small for me but it fits on my Michelin Man.

Negative Disneyland

When ever I buy a load of vintage pictures I always end up with a load of negatives. Over the weekend I decided to take a stab at scanning a group of early Disneyland black and white negs. They came out OK with just a little tweaking on a few.

Sunday Score 1/04/09

I only bought 1 thing this morning at the local show so that must be my Sunday Score

At only $20 i was happy to get it. The globe is glass with a overlayed map and has a light inside which makes a nice glow in the dark. I think the previous owner was a smoker because the nice blue globe turn a dingy yellow when turned on. I will be looking online to see if there is a way I can clean the earth and make it a better world to look at in the dark.

Somebody

It's funny when people ask me what I am looking for when I am out shopping at the swapmeet. The day I got this I wasn't thinking " Ya know I can't believe I have not found that 17 inch take apart classroom body model"

You never know what will turn up that you do not need but end up buying anyway.
