I've got a (non-Pep Boys) can of paint thinner of the same approximate vintage that also touts its efficacy as charcoal starter fluid (among a variety of other uses). I liked its can-do spirit... "It's a flammable liquid, isn't it? Why NOT use it to start the barbecue?" I suspect this might not have been a great idea, but I guess any ailments it may have caused were in people who'd have been dead by now, anyway.

The Pep Boys! One of my found memories as a kid was going to the Pep Boys with my Dad. It was a real father and son experience.
