Heavy Metal
I could not pass it up for $50
even though it took 2 guys to put it in the back on my scion.
Then I realized how was I going to get it out?
It sat back there for a few days until I was able to muster the strength of the gods and somehow lifted it out and to the ground with no major groin injury or brain aneurism. Now it sits on a old trashcan dolly awaiting it's final resting place somewhere in the garage or maybe my desk in the office ( that should keep it in place during the next earthquake or tornado).

The Show
The new and greatly improved All American Collector Show was back on the road to it once greatness. After many years of decline ( dealers and shoppers) Tauni and new partner Jim Maley revamped the show hours and also doubled the dealers from the last show. The whole floor was full both in the main hall and also all the available side rooms. Best part was having Sunday off ( Thanks You!) . Here is a few shots of my 1/2 booth setup and as always I brought more than I should have but fit it all in. up , down and around.

B&M Surgery
I knew this day was coming and it did last Saturday. I was rearranging some things on my shelf and I picked up my B&M Brown bread in can.
What was under it?????? sticky brown goo! So the time had come to cut him open and take out the goo causing insides.
So I grabbed the can opener, flip the can upside down and went for it. After the blade went in there was a rush of escaping air and then I went around and took off the bottom. I was surprised it was not all gooey and pretty much was still as complete as it was when packed. Here is what was inside.

TASTES GOOD HOT or COLD
but not OLD
No I did not take a test taste but my Wife Kelly asked me if I did, guess she figured that was something I would do ( I learned my lesson on eating vintage food along with Dan and Steve out ion the parking lot of the Long Beach Vets Show with a old box of Moonstones) never again.
So now I have a inside-less can and no more goo problem on my shelf.

Summer Mosaic
One fine craft project out at the Junk Swap last Saturday.
There was some fine cut tiles in the hair department
10 bucks for all that work. I almost picked it up but there was some damage to one of the foot plus I am trying to curb these "interesting to me but not much value on the resale market " buys.
Still an interesting piece and was gone from the booth on my next go around.
Enjoy the day!

The Farm
Can you name them all ?
Going thru boxes of stuff in an attempt to organize and de-clutter the garage and side of the house. Looking inside a small plastic bag produced this little assortment of people and animals. Who knows what other things are hidden among the packed crates and boxes I have stashed away over the last 5 years. Stay tuned.........

Bug be Gone
The time had finally come to say goodbye to my 2002 VW Beetle. After almost 160,000 mile I got tired of it nickle and dime-ing me ( more like hundreds and thousand-ing me). I guess the last straw was when the Battery light decided to add itself to the already burning airbag light and check engine lights on my dash. Those, I was told, were just a sensor out somewhere and the fact that come next February I was going to need a new catalytic converter if I was planning on have it pass smog. So anyone out there looking at VW's run the other way, ours just seemed to start falling apart as the years progressed. So I jumped the vw ship after owning 2 and got a shiny new Scion XB.
I knew it was going to be the right car and now I am driving around with that new car smell.
Thanks Scion and goodbye VW.

(Not "Box of Nails")
Gotta love the way they indicate what size the nails are on the packaging.
This Size ( Dummy )
just in case you brought a sample from home you were looking to match, like we all do....Right?
and yes you get over 145 nails in each box.
Thank you Sears !

Re Post
I thought since Today is
National Doughnut Day
I would repost this one I did back in April 2010
Once in a while while out hunting the swaps something happens that trips you out. In the past I have found some great thing by taking at turn down one row instead of another. You think about it later and it almost seems like it was meant to be for some odd reason or another. Coincidence or chance favoring your route that day at the show paying off with a new find for your collection that you otherwise would have passed by. Well yesterday was a doozie, I was in a booth and bought a small photo album ( Some great pics to share later this week) and some old keys. The booth was split between 2 dealers so the other side was a vintage paper dealers with just boxes and bins full of all sorts of old paper. After I paid for the album and keys I was poking around the paper and thinking "Randy you have enough paper stuff move along " so heading out of the booth I see a box full of vintage business cards and there is this one with a doughnut on it. I kinda like the early doughnut shop stuff so I pick it up and take a look.
Looking at it closer I cannot believe what I am holding..........
My Grandfathers business card from his supply business. Wow what a weird feeling came over me sort of a shock. We have been living in their home for about 3 years now so maybe it was his way of saying hello remember me?
I always will.

Garage Excavation
I had a emergency call from a fellow dealer in search of some crates for a up coming show display. I knew I might have a few so off to the garage I went. After about an hour of pulling, stacking, moving, squeezing and reaching I was able to pull 14 wooden cubes from the finely organized collection known as the garage.
After I put back all the extra stuff that had to be removed to get the crates out I am happy to report that it looks as packed as it was before I started.
Happy Friday Everyone !!!!
